Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions about Ivy.
How does Ivy protect my privacy?
Ivy provides comprehensive privacy protection through masked emails, phone numbers, and payment cards. Your real information stays hidden from websites and services, preventing tracking, spam, and data breaches. All your data is encrypted and secured using bank-grade security protocols.
What is a masked email and how does it work?
A masked email is a unique, disposable email address that forwards messages to your real inbox. When you sign up for a service with a masked email, the service never sees your real email address. You can disable or delete masked emails at any time to stop receiving messages, effectively blocking spam and unwanted communications.
Can I use Ivy on multiple devices?
Yes! Ivy works seamlessly across all your devices. Install the browser extension on Chrome, Firefox, or other supported browsers, and use the mobile app on iOS and Android. All your masked identities sync automatically across devices, so you're always protected.
Is my data safe with Ivy?
Absolutely. We use bank-grade encryption to protect your data both in transit and at rest. Your biometric data is encrypted and decentralized, so no one, including us, can access it. We employ a zero-knowledge architecture, meaning we can't access your sensitive information. Our infrastructure is regularly audited for security and compliance.
What happens if I cancel my subscription?
If you cancel your subscription, you'll continue to have access to all premium features until the end of your current billing period. After that, your account will revert to the free tier. Your saved passwords and data will be saved locally on your device instead of our servers. You can reactivate your subscription at any time to regain premium features.
How do masked payments work?
Masked payments create virtual card numbers that are linked to your real payment method. Each virtual card can have custom spending limits and can be used for one-time purchases or recurring subscriptions. If a merchant is compromised, only the virtual card number is exposed, not your real card details. You can freeze or delete virtual cards instantly.
Does Ivy work with all websites?
Ivy works with the vast majority of websites and services. Our browser extension automatically detects signup forms and offers to create masked identities. In rare cases where automatic detection doesn't work, you can manually copy and paste masked emails or phone numbers. We're constantly improving compatibility with more websites.
Can I customize my masked identities?
Yes! You can customize masked email addresses with memorable names, add notes and labels to organize them, and set up custom forwarding rules. For masked phone numbers, you can choose area codes and manage call/text forwarding preferences. This helps you keep track of where you've used each masked identity.
What is phishing protection and how does it help?
Ivy's phishing protection actively monitors websites you visit and warns you about known phishing sites, suspicious links, and potential scams. It checks URLs against a constantly updated database of threats and uses AI to identify new phishing attempts. This extra layer of protection helps prevent you from entering your credentials on fake websites.
How do I get started with Ivy?
Getting started is easy! Install the Ivy browser extension from the Chrome Web Store or download the mobile app. Create your account, and you'll be guided through setting up your first masked email. The extension will automatically suggest creating masked identities when you sign up for new services. It takes just a few minutes to start protecting your privacy.
